I have always been drawn to objects with history and pieces that tell a story. I am fascinated by old closed up buildings, what is behind broken old factory windows, old gardens with creaky gates and walls with layers of plaster and paint.

In Tattered + Torn we will gather vintage pieces from the flea market in Lisbon and start creating our own story of this place filled with history, beauty and layers. We will explore dyeing, mark making, collage and stitching as we create our book. We will incorporate plaster, encaustic medium and wire as we bring to life the stories of Portugal.

In between our bookmaking we will grab our hand stitched journals that we will make and head to the historical Sintra to learn how to create quick thumbnail sketches, contour sketches and abstract impressions of our surroundings.

This workshop will impact how you travel, collect and document the world around you.

We breathe Portugal, the ocean and the forest, enjoying every minute. Welcome to the city of light as Lisbon is known. Lisbon is the second oldest capital in Europe,so with a history of almost 3,000 years she has a very unique soul and much to offer.

Our studio will remain open after hours if anyone wants to keep their hands busy.

One sewing machine will be on the studio with a box of supplies for us to use. 

Coffee and tea will be available throughout the day

-3 -5 paintbrushes
-clear and white gesso (small size)
-mechanical pencil
-acrylic paint (small size of black, white, buff and 2-3 in your color palette)
-vintage papers/magazine pages (I will also be providing some)

• Your airline ticket, including any baggage fees.

**Airport pick-up to and from the house is only for indicated dates. Should you plan to arrive earlier to stay at the hotel you will be responsible for your own transfer fees. We can help you arrange your transfer and extra night if required.

** Please note that the house does NOT have an elevator. The workshop will be held in the garden floor and rooms are in the main and first floor.

Deposit is: 1150 Euros and is non-refundable upon registration.

Early Bird Price is 4150 Euros and is until December 1st, 2024.

Regular Price is 4450 Euros and begins on December 2nd, 2024.

Full Balance is due from everyone by February 1st, 2025.
